Trinary Preassure Switch - Huh??

vtwinwilly on Sun April 20, 2008 11:07 PM User is offline

Year: 1993
Make: Holiday Rambler
Model: Navigator
Engine Size: C8.3
Refrigerant Type: 134a

Can someone look at the diagram below and explain how the fan override part of this switch (the binary part is easy enough).

If this switch is "Normally Open", does that mean the circuit is open until it hits 35PSGI then closes... and then again at 200 PSIG it open again? ... That doesn't make any sense.

I'm looking to use this to control a pair of 16" condenser fans? Am I just thinking about this totally wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Bill B.

BB,
There ain't no such thang as 35 psi minus 60 psi.

Is your condenser mounted up front so the motion of the vehicle will force air thru it? If not you need to run the fans all the time the compressor is on anyway.

That answers my question.

The MH is a diesel pusher so the condenser is located on the side behind the right rear wheel. The fans are currently wired up to the compressor clutch in such a way that the fans are on anytime the compressor is on. I'll just leave it that way.

I'm still curious about how that trinary switch works. I got the above off the Truck Air website and it made no sense to me at all. It's not a burning issue though.

Thx

Bill B.
