Hi,
I am having an issue with my 99 Explorer which I just bought. It has had this problem since I bought it, so I don't know if it was sudden onset or not.
At idle AC blows very cold. However, if revved to 2500RPM in park or driving down the road the air gets warmer until it is not cold at all. At a red light or stop sign, air gradually gets cooler until cold. Then when you take off...back to warm.
I have check the plenum door on the heater core and it is in good condition and seems to function properly. The door remains shut, even when the engine is revved and the air begins to warm, so I do not believe it to be the problem.
When revving, it does seem that the compressor is kicking on and off very quickly, but at idle it runs constantly. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
When it begins to blow warm, check to see if the compressor is still engaged, also check the clutch gap with the engine off, should be around .02 Hope this helps..
