1996 Saab 900 - Poor cooling at idle, highway ok

Year: 1996
Make: Saab
Model: 900
Engine Size: 2.5L V6
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 30C/86F
Pressure Low: ?
Pressure High: ?
Country of Origin: Canada

Hi, a question about my A/C system. A/C works good when driving along, but when I get to a red light or have to stop, the A/C performance seems to become very poor. Panel vent temperatures begin to rise unless I idle up the engine to about 2000rpm and hold it there. The vehicle is an oldie with 267,000 or so Km (165,000 miles) on the odometer.

History, The evaporator, expansion valve, condensor, and dryer were changed last summer because one of the a/c lines running from the compressor to the condensor was broken, there was a huge 1" gash in the pipe, and I don't know how long it was left like that (I had bought the car used). After these parts were changed last summer, a/c performance was alright, but this year the a/c is displaying the problem indicated above. Any suggestions? The only thing that wasn't changed was the compressor. The vehicle is equipped with ACC, automatic climate control system.

Thanks

Pressure readings would help!
