Engine Size: 5.0
Refrigerant Type: 12
Country of Origin: United States

hey guys,

I need to replace the r4 compressor on my 87 iroc-z as it leaks and turns over hard. Should I go ahead and convert to 134 while I'm at it? Will anything other than the compressor and accumulator need to be replaced? Will the system cool as well if converted? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone had experience converting this particular system? thanks, jeff

Check the O tube for debris, that will tell you if you need anything else done, I would keep it R12 since it's still available, Change the accumulator, and if no flushing is needed, add back around 4 or 5 ounces of mineral oil, if you convert it a flush should be done, then the 8 ounces of PAG 150 or a quality ester oil like BVA auto 100. Check out Ackits.com for all the parts you'll need, you'll find them cheaper than most, and at least very competitive..Hope this helps..
