97 accord leaks

mcboy on Sat April 25, 2009 1:51 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Honda
Model: Accord
Engine Size: 2.4 4 c
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Country of Origin: United States

Decreasing performance of AC on 1997 accord. Added a dose of UV dye and found Leaks as Follows

Where suction hose couples to compressor

around the manifold on the compressor

Where high pressure hose couples to condenser block

Have small leak in condenser where a tube goes from the inlet block to the condenser itself

Everything else looks good.--- I dont have a sniffer

I know that I will have to replace the condenser(looks pretty beat up anyway)

Should I also think about the compressor? It seems to be working but it is 12 yrs old

If I do the compressor I think that I would flush the system and replace the txv

Cant locate the drier-- where is it?

Is it difficult to access the evaporator on this car?

Have the tools needed to do this thanks to AMA saving me a bunch of money on a compressor replacement a couple of years ago.

Great forum and company-- Thanks for the help

Nylog, O-rings and possibly replace the condenser. Few ounces of oil and let the compressor run until it dies.
