Do I need a fan here?

pippo on Tue May 05, 2009 12:11 PM User is offline

Am installing a new hi flow, parallel flow condenser. Old R12 system has a fan in front, and I know some systems dont even have a fan. Any advice on this? Shouldnt a fan be a good idea anyway??

Thanks!!

OK....TXB...hoping to get a reply/answer, as I am about to order a fan. Oh well, probably wont hurt anyway to put one in, in absence of advice, right?

Your question isn't easy to answer. If your car had factory A/C, GM put a larger "puller" fan on, not an additional "pusher" fan.

If it was mine, I would toss the added-on condensor fan and find a fan/shroud assemble for a factory A/C car. That would leave you with the task of making the fan come on with the A/C like the factory system.

Good luck!
