r-134

Want to check my r-12 system for leaks. You guys said i could put 134 in it and look for leaks with my sniffer.
I don't want to put in 134 with oil in it. There is 134 at autozone that does not list oil its contents. is this ok to use!

Thanks Steve

That will work, but don't run the compressor..leave it off and just pressurize the system with R134a.. Change the drier/accumulator afterwards before re-charging with R12..

The cheapest can on the shelf is usually pure R-134a. They may also have brands like Weitron, National Refrigerants, or DuPont. All of these should be plain R-134a. It seems to be mostly Interdynamics that likes to put snake oil in it.

It's easier to use a small amount out of a 30 lb tank. Can tappers tend to leak so you are likely to not be succesful trying to store a half-full can of R-134a for later.
