Hello again, After the great info I got on this forum my a/c has been working just fine...........until now. My condenser fan is not working. I tested the relays and they seem to be fine. There is no power at the fan connector. Before I start tracing wires I was wondering if anyone has seen this before and might have something specific for me to check. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

P.S.- Everything else in the system seems fine. If you put the garden hose on the coil it blows ice cold air.

Check the ground circuit. I think there is a ground wire near the condenser that only grounds the condenser fan.

Swap the two relays, if the fan now works but the compressor doesn't, it's a bad relay. You should also be able to jumper the contact pins in the relay socket and make the fan run.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out that ground. I swapped the relays and nothing changed (everything that worked still did, the fan still didn't work). So the relays seem to be o.k. . If the relays are good and I'm still not getting power to the fan socket would jumping the contacts do anything? I had a wheel bearing changed and I kind of wonder if they broke a wire somewhere. Or a ground!

If a chain tire shop (that also does A/C service) did the bearing...

Look for damaged or disconnected wires. Check for ground with a meter @ the fan plug, as well as +12v to chassis ground.

This would not be the first time I have seen a cut wire after an unrelated chain shop repair.

Haha! You nailed it! Tire chain that does other stuff. I'm gonna check for messed up wires.

Electrical is not my strong point, but I can use a multimeter. How do I go about this? Continuity test between socket and ground?

With the engine off, set the meter to "OHMS" . Look for a reading between one pin of the fan connector, and the chassis or battery negative terminal. This is the ground wire.

Now set the meter to "VOLTS". Start the vehicle, and run the A/C - a condition that should start the fan. The other terminal in the fan connector should read +12 volts to ground.

Thanks again for all the help guys, I'll check it out and post my findings.
