Minimum vacuum reading needed for a system

yorled on Fri June 05, 2009 8:05 PM User is offline

What is the minimum reading in in/hg or micron one could draw down a system before gasing(adding refrigerant to the system)a system?

How can one know whether a receiver/drier and/or an accumulator is good or bad?
Thanks in advance!!

If you don't have a micron gauge, bring it down to 29.9HG, you will lose 1HG for every 1,000 ft above sea level though. As far as your drier/accumulator, change it when the system is empty to be safe. Or, if you have a failure, sometimes the desiccant dissolves and will clog the expansion valve or O tube, visual inspection will tell..
