Pressure High: 250

Last week the ac just kept getting warmer and warmer on a 30-mile trip. On the way home it was coming out of the vent at 95 degrees. I can hear the compressor kick in for 3 seconds then go off for 4 or 5 seconds. I hooked up the gauges and the low side was at 80 with the compressor not engaged and when the compressor went on it would go down to 65. The high side was at 250 and would go up to 450
before the compressor would go off. The dials never did stay still they were always moving with the cycling of the compressor. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
With the gages still hooked up, spray a mist of water on the condenser and see if the pressures drop "fast" or if the cycling stops. It appears you're cycling due to high side pressure, meaning either very poor air flow or you have a blockage.. If spraying the condenser doesn't do it, you'll need to recover the refrigerant and check the O tube for debris, that will determine where to go from that point.. Let us know what happens with the water on the condenser.. hope this helps..

Anyone been adding refrigerant to the system?

Okay I finally got back to this truck. When I sprayed water on the condensor the compressor stayed on and the ac started to get cold. There was a lot of bugs clogging up the condensor. Sprayed it off and cleaned it with a brush and it seems to be cooling. the only problem is the high side runs at 400 lbs The low side is about 35.
You need to check the area between the radiator and condenser, make sure it's clean of bugs and dirt etc. You may also need a new fan clutch. You might also try recovering the refrigerant and recharging into a deep vacuum the system amount. If you do this be sure to pull and check the O tube, it may be getting clogged giving the high side pressures, in which case your compressor may be failing from running with high pressures..... Hope this helps..

Well when we took it for drive the ac did not work at all. And the water hose is not long enough. So I guess we will recover the freon and check the O tube. How much does a shop charge to remove the freon?
that all depends on the shop, different areas are different too, when you say it didn't work at all, was the compressor running???

You know I dont know I will have to check tommorow.
thanks
Well the compressor was running today and the vent temps were about 80. the outside temp was only 90. The compressor still cycles on and off.
I have not had a chance to look at this but I have a question. The high side port was so hot the other day I had to take the hose off with a rag. Is that normal?
Also Tim is the mesa store still open?
How much to take out all the freon on this truck?
Thanks

I finally pulled the o tube and its completely plugged up the screen is torn. I hope you can see the picture does this mean the compressor is toast

What you are looking at on the O tube, is the insides of your compressor, you will need a new one, system flush, new accumulator and oil, possibly a new condenser if it doesn't flush well. Check with Ackits.com, as they had a special on FS10 compressors,

That's the Sanden FS10 replacement. If you just mentioned an special on an FS10 compressor the staff really would not know what you are talking about. Heck they probably forgot I mentioned the Sanden FS10's. As bad as that looks, it's a firewall forward replacement in my opinion.

Does this truck have a parallel flow condenser and would the hoses have to be replaced?
6mm piccolo, I would replace the hoses or have them rebuilt. Lot's of debris so no reason to risk not doing it right.
