Civic Condenser Change

Helimech on Thu June 25, 2009 12:10 AM User is offline

Year: 1995
Make: Honda
Model: Civic - DX
Engine Size: 1500
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Country of Origin: United States

I'm changing the condenser due to the fins being badly damaged from corrosion and bugs. I'm also changing the receiver/drier. I'm guessing at about adding 1.5 oz of oil before evacuating the system. Does this amount of oil sound about right and should I add it to the condenser or receiver/drier? Will PAG 150 be all right for this Honda system? Thanks for any help.

I would add 2 ounces since your changing both condenser and drier. Think 1 ounce for the condenser and since you're replacing the drier. Drill a hole in the bottom of the old one and catch the oil in a measuring cup. Add that amount back plus the ounce.

PAG 46 is specified for that car. 150 is too heavy. You can simply put all the new oil into the new receiver drier and it will find its way around.

Agreed TRS090 = PAG 46
