Hi everyone

Im new to this side of a car ive never been in a car with a air-con,So im thinking before i can even think about getting my car cold i have to make sure the seats/interior have to be cold?

Any tips on how to get my car cold so then the air-con will do its job.

Thank You

Eventually the air conditioner will cool the interior of the car. It will just take longer when it it very hot. You could try to park in the shade, or leave the windows open slightly so that the heat won't build up so much. That should help it cool down a little faster.

Cheers now thats a good idea,I know all cars different and it depends on how hot the car is and hot it is outside but how long would would it take for a car to get fresh would it be about a hour?

Now i did read somewhere that the air-con will be pretty rubbish and would take ages if you are driving 30mph would you say this is right?

Try living in Arizona where a car left in the sun can have its interior, seats, dashboard, etc. all heat up to 160F. Those constantly shed their heat into the interior as you drive and try to get the car cooled. Here, many of us park under any shade we can find, even if that means walking 200 yards to the store, etc.

Blade, What car do you have?

The vents should blow cold within a minute of starting the engine.... The cabin will take a little while to cool, but it aint hot here yet... Barely 25c

Hi i have a peugeot 206 yes the air from the vents come cold within seconds,But it seems the inside takes ages to get fresh im thinking it maybe because the interior is holding alot of heat,The dash seems to take along time till the heat goes so it then becomes cold.

Ha! 30c is regarded as very hot over here.... Mind you we do have very high humidity.. Over the last few days I have had to use the wipers to remove the condensation from my windscreen

Blade, The little 206 isn't blessed with the most powerfull aircon but it is adequate for the UK... I can't remember if it is fitted with a pollen filter but if it has make sure that it is not blocked to ensure maximum air flow.... The seats and dash do retain a lot of heat and will take time to cool down, especially if you do lots of short trips... Even my Lexus takes about half an hour to cool the dash and seats down once it has been standing in the sun. The high humidity will also take a toll as a huge ammount of energy is stored in the water vapour
