Low side high, High side high?

Plaidman on Sun June 28, 2009 10:21 PM User is offline

Year: 1998
Make: Mazda
Model: 626 ES
Engine Size: 2.5L
Refrigerant Type: R134
Ambient Temp: 100
Pressure Low: 65
Pressure High: 400
Country of Origin: United States

Help; Low side is high and high side is high. The electric fan is running, it starts rising immediately after turn on. Before turn on the gauges read about 110. I did find that the radiator fan is not coming on and will change that but it does not come on till the engine warms up and the AC climbs higher till it is shut off by the high pressure switch even when the engine is cold. So it shuts on and off repeatedly. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks, Charlie

Chick, the AC fan does come on when the ac is turned on but the engine radiator fan according to a a manual says it comes on only for the engine. Of course that's just the manual talking, which isn't necessarily right. Thanks for the quick response, Charlie

Duct Tape.

Secure the gauge set to the windshield where you (or a helper) can read them.

Run a steady state 45 to 60 mph, and record the pressures & vent temps.

Post results..

Chick, what a difference having the Radiator cooling fan working again. Pressures back to normal considering the heat & humidity here in Louisiana, you were right on about the fan working with the AC on. Thanks again, Charlie
