How do I get this evap housing out???

buddhalite on Mon July 06, 2009 9:38 PM User is offline

Year: 1997
Make: Chevrolet
Model: C/K Pickup
Engine Size: 5.7
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Country of Origin: United States

How on earth do I get the HVAC housing out of a 1997 Chevy Pickup?

The Alldata stuff shows that I have to remove all the hoses and such and the accum.....I get all of that.

However it also shows that I should "tilt back instrument panel assembly"

WTF?

I don't think you can 'tilt' anything back.....I took loose the panels around the instrument cluster and such as it said and around the steering column, but I don't get why I did that either.

Can anyone help me with this? This has me sooooooo stumped....

I just need to replace the evap....didn't think it would take me quite so much time...

Dash has to be pulled all the way back so the entire ac/heater assembly can be removed. PITA for sure but there are worse cores to R & R. Just ask Eric @ AMA, he just did one on a Lexus IS250 that another shop messed up.
