The coils I just use two thin crow bars on either side and kinda wiggle them off, you get used to it and can do it pretty fast if you do enough.. Whatever works for you.. The halves, yes they can be a pain, I use a pry bar used in Auto body work to grip the edge then hit it with a hammer, not the compressor, the pry bar lip for the rear tapping it around till it comes off, then a dead shot hammer on the other end carefully so as not to deform the center case.. Once it brakes loose it comes right off.. You really have to clean the area that gets corroded, I use oil and a scruffy pad until it's shiny all the way around.. New Shaft seal of course... I'm sure GM tech does it differently, but that works for me....

Thanks chick yea you need to watch to not clamp it in the vise to hard and distort the case, looking at one of them compressor holders for the vise might work better to hold it. But yea kinda did it all like you said i got it but a PITA i thought that maybe there was a easier way to do them two issues but maybe not.

GM tech your way???

I use a chain vice grip and vice to wiggle it loose- it will rotate until it splits- use it on all cylinder halves, HT, HD and V-5s, I never hammer anything- to afraid I'll crack thrust washers, or cylinder cases...

I use a coil puller tool for the coils and pulleys- you can pull both off at the same time on H-6s....

-------------------------
The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
