jjjinu on Thu July 16, 2009 9:05 PM User is offline

Year: 1996
Make: GMC
Model: Suburban K1500
Engine Size: 5.7L
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Ambient Temp: 85
Pressure Low: 30
Pressure High: 205
Country of Origin: United States

Strange Pressure readings when running rear air only.

Running both Front and Rear Air:
1500 RPM All Windows Open
Ambient: 85 degrees
Low Side: 30
High Side: 205
Front Vent: 46 Degrees
Rear Vent: 52 Degrees

Running Rear Air only:
Low Side: 70
High Side: 110
Rear Vet: 75+ Degrees

Am I undercharged? What should good pressure readings be? Too much oil?

My guess is when the front fan is off, the front evaporator becomes the coldest part of the system, so it fills up with liquid R-134a and the rest of the system has none. Combine that with the slightly low high side and I'd say it's undercharged. Really the best way is to evacuate and charge by weight, then if it still doesn't work properly you can consider things other than the charge level.
