1965 Ford Mustang A/C fan wires

Maccer on Fri July 24, 2009 11:56 AM User is offline

Year: 1965
Make: Ford
Model: Mustang
Engine Size: 200ci
Refrigerant Type: 134A
Ambient Temp: n/a
Pressure Low: n/a
Pressure High: n/a
Country of Origin: United States

Question: I see from the Ford schematic that two wires exit the original 1965 underdash unit from the fan control. One wire goes to the ignition switch and one wire goes to the compressor. The schema shows one wire as yellow and one as black. Unfortunately, both wires exiting my unit are black, so I need some help.

The pic shows an inset of the bezel flipped over so that the fan control is in view along with two wires I've labeled as wire 1 and wire 2. If anyone knows were these wires lead, please advise. Also, the schema shows an inline fuse between the fan and compressor. I dont see that on my wiring anywhere -- however, both wires are cut so I dont have connectors to use as clues. This is a resto so the previous owner left me lots of guesswork. Thanks!

A better pic showing the wire routes after I removed the tape wrap. One of the wires runs from the temp control and one runs from the fan control. Diagram says one of these wires should continue to the compressor and the other should route to the ignition post. Anyone know which goes to where?

Fan wire is your power source. Thermostat runs to the compressor.
