Country of Origin: United States

Hello,
A/C Stopped working about 7 yrs ago.

When i put gauges on system there was a very slight pressure but not much to speak of.
I pulled a vacuum on the system and it did not leak down. As i was told here i put a can of R-134 in the system but did not run it and checked for leaks with my sniffer. Could not find any.
I wanted to look at the O/T and change it i think it is at the inlet of the evap. but i cant get the line broke free and i don't want to damage it. Do you think i should replace it?
I removed the manifold at the compressor to see if it looked like the thing had come apart but it was clean as can be.
Removed the lines at the drier and did not see anything there clean also!
It has all orig. stuff on it.

1. Replace the shaft seal or should i leave it alone.

2. Replace drier.

3. Can the just the hose's be replaced (barrier type) and save the old fittings and manifold or do you think it is ok to reuse it or get new assy.

4. Replace all orings that i break into.
I have nylog it says HFC compatible can i use this.
I have some orings from when i did my wifes 1997 neon and i have left over can i use the ones from that kit.
They are green and the ones that i have seen so far on my car are black.

5. Go back in with 36 oz of R-12 .

Can you tell me what i am forgetting or any ideas on what else i should do.

Do you know why it stopped working? does the compressor turn freely, no binding etc.. If everything looks ok, I'd add an ounce of oil with some dye and charge it up and run it, could have lost it charge from time.. Jump the cycling switch to check if the compressor comes on for a second.. no more with no charge in it.. Just to be sure it grabs and is quiet..

Chick,

Jumped the cycle switch and it does start no noise. So what type of oil should i get from AMA. and dye.

What about the other questions.

Thanks for all the help on this.

Keep it R12

New drier

Mineral oil

O-ring kit

With all systems that have sat for a while you can think they are sound. When you get pressure in them and run it a seal may become defective.

Hello,

I have nylog it says HFC compatible can i use this.

And does AMR sell mineral with dye in it I see 1 Qt. bottle but none with dye added.

Nylog should be fine.

The mineral oil we offer does not come with dye. We do have dye which can be added to the oil. Item CP5032 $13.12, not listed on the website but is available. I'll work on getting it added.

First off i want to thank all the guys at AMA for shipping my stuff so fast and it all arrived in great shape.

and all the guys here that answer my Questions.

So i need to know how much oil to add to the new accum. that i am replacing along with how much leak ck dye to add with it.

Let me add that i did as i was told here and added a can of R-134 to just look for leaks ( did not run the system with R-134 in it).

But the end blew off my hose and i lost all the R-134 did i lose oil with this.

I am i the process putting it back together!

yes i got the dye from you

That bottle has enough for 3 systems. So use 1/3 in you system if it never had dye and a little less if you still have oil and dye in the system.
