after reseal..it's not cooling very well

pitbull1 on Tue August 25, 2009 5:49 PM User is offline

I got this v-5 back together pulled a vacuum and put 2 cans of freon in it and it's no longer cooling very well.No condensation on the low side (it's barely even cool to the touch)and high side pressure is about 150 at idle. It's 85 degrees outside..Any ideas what the problem could be.I don't have the ability to check the low side pressure..

You will need both pressures, could be low, could be a sticking control valve, we need both pressures.... Hope this helps...

Is 24 oz the proper charge for the vehicle? Variable compressor systems need to be fully charged to evaluate performance and pressures.

A tag under the hood says the charge should be 1.63 lbs..r134a..I figured 2 cans was almost enough..What say you guys?

If you got every molecule from 2 cans of refrigerant (24.0 oz.), that's still below the 1.63 lb. (26.1 oz.) on the sticker. And there's always "some" loss when filling.

yep your way under charged yet,,them 12oz cans produce less then 12 oz of 134a,you need more...
