Was the orifice tube located up front by the condenser?

With 40/250 you don't have a restriction. May have a dirty cabin filter if the vehicle is equipped.

03 was the last year.may be im not undersanding my compressor wont hold at 40 at 1500 rpm it stops for bout 20 sec then just keeps on and on i was thinking it should stay on 40 without stoping?

Does the low side pressure ever get down into the 20's before compressor stops? If not the cycling switch is probably turning off prematurely.

If it's cycling and the accumulator and low side line are getting cold enough to be sweaty or frosty, it's refrigerating OK but reheating the air before it gets to the vents.

yes they are sweating good the guy i took it to today said that thing is pissing enough water it should be cooling, but its not.well it is cooling some just not enough.i have a thermometer in the vent it say 50 on my work truck and 60 on the one im working on .also the compressor is making a whining noise and it was not doing that before? so i think it must have too much in it,and so i can read a steady low pressure i disconnected and jump out the low pressure switch and set it 1500rpm at 40psi and it was worse. i guess i will vac and start over,i don't have a way to charge by weight but if i use the 12oz cans i should use 2 cans and a little of the 3rd wright?it calls for 25.50oz so im told,no rear air in truck.any advice on the process? oh sorry no it only gets to bout 40 then knocks off. that sounds like my problem how do i fix it? thanks for your replies i appreciate them

If it turns off at 40 psi, replace the pressure switch on the accumulator. Try pinching off the heater hoses so there's no possibility of reheating in the cab. Yes you can trust the cans to contain 12 oz rather exactly. Charge it by weight once and leave that alone.
