AC charged but not cooling

fishercz20 on Thu June 17, 2010 7:07 PM User is offline

Year: 2000
Make: ford
Model: excursion
Engine Size: 7.3l
Country of Origin: United States

Just had AC checked, orifice was checked for clogging but it was clean. Was lower on charge about 1 lbs so freon was added. I see the clutch was making some kind of noise but when AC got engaged it pulled in .
AC is not cold. Do you have any idea what is missing? Any comments?

Thanks
Steve

Well the system pressures are missing for sure.

Assuming the recovered charge was weighed when the OT was checked, it was "about 1 lb" undercharged. Was anything else added to the system at that time?

Was the dryer replaced when this service was done?

The "noisy clutch" - does it still make noise when engaged? Is it a scrape - or a rumble?
