Buick ac coming out floor only

jmoffo on Wed June 30, 2010 8:41 AM User is offline

Year: 2005
Make: buick
Model: Century

My ac is blowing out the floor vents only! As I try to change the air selector from MAX to VENT to Bi-Level, etc...nothing happens. I hear it might be a vacuum leak..but I am not sure where to begin! HELP!

I think on those later models, the system is all electric, and complicated (CAN bus). Do you hear a motor turning at all when you change the selector? Do that with the key on but engine not running so you can hear better.

The blower works in all speeds...but it refuses to change the air flow into the ac vents...or defrost, bi-lev, etc

Take it to someone who owns a Tech II scan tool- it will report the code(s) and you can follow the analysis tree from there.....

-------------------------
The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
