Mercedes AC Blows Warm

Autonotions on Mon July 26, 2010 10:05 PM User is offline

Year: 2000
Make: Mercedes
Model: E430
Engine Size: 4.3
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 91
Pressure Low: 45
Pressure High: 195
Country of Origin: Germany

Hello, I need some help. This Mercedes started blowing warm air some of the time and now it is all the time. The compressor engages for about two minutes with minimal cooling (70 degree vent temp) and then the compressor disengages and no cooling.

I have all the system data from the on board diagnostic program. No codes, no outliers.

When compressor is engaged, it is at 16 bar on the high side 232psi approx at 90 degrees ambient

Clutch does not make any unusual noise, spins freely.

Pressures indicate low charge, but I think you also have a clutch gap problem, check the gap, should be around .02, if it's larger, remove a shim and get it as close as you can without the clutch driver hitting the pulley..
Also have the system evacuated and recharged to factory specifications
