I've only fixed R134 systems, never an R12 system. I found the leak in my AC, and will fix it today. Is the recharge procedures the same as r134? Specifically,
1) Vacuum it before charge. I vacuum on the low side port?
2) On the back of my compressor are some service ports. What are these used for?
3) When I charge it, do I need to have the RPM's up?
Thank you.
I always pull a vacuum thru both low and high side. After the guages settle down, I close the high side and only pull thru the low side. My reasoning for this is to make sure i'm not pulling oil from the compressor. Some systems have ports on the rear of the compressor, some don't, some have both. Use the most convenient locations. rpm's should be 1200 to 1500
