Understand you worked for J.E.M in the Mark IV division. I am doing research on aftermarket
operations in Texas and would like some inside skinny on the closing days. You can reach me at:
dalsource@verizon.net. thanks, Rod.
Hi Rod,
For several years Mark IV sold more air conditioners than Frigiking or ARA.
I started at JEMCO when 18 years old and worked for Orville Mitchell Sr., Chief Engineer with over 50 patents, designing and testing ICEE machines and Mark IV air conditioners. Orville was one of the most diligent Jesus followers that I've met. He mentored me and allowed me to work full time while completing a education.
His brother John E. Mitchell Jr., President, wrote a book "The Christian in Business" which gives some JEMCO history. These 2 brothers strongly influenced my life views for which I'm eternally grateful.
I left many years before JEMCO closed but attended the final auction of their assets.
I still attend the annual JEMCO employees reunion to see old pals.
The Book "How to Air Condition Your Hot Rod" includes some history on the invention and patent of the Sanden Compressor at MARK IV in Dallas.
Vintage Air has MARK IV steel body under dash evaporators.
I'd like to help,
Old MARK IV guy
