If I pre-fill with oil, will that oil be removed during pull-down?

Year: 2001
Make: Mazda
Model: Miata
Engine Size: 1.8 L
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 110
Country of Origin: United States

The A/C system in my 2001 Miata has been dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled (almost .. I’m about ready to close it up).

I was planning to pre-fill my compressor and evaporator with the required quantity of oil – PAG 46, 5.07 fl oz.

My question is, will this oil be removed during evacuation/pull-down? And, if so, how do I get it back in?

Not enough to matter. Some oil mist will be removed but that is normal.

No lubricant will not be removed during a normal evacuation process. If large amounts of lubricant are discharged during the evacuation process, this is typically evidence of excessive lubricant within the system. Test utilizing various size vacuum chambers and quantities of lubricant indicate that the removal of lubricant should not be a consideration.

It depends on how much air is between the point you're evacuating from and the oil. If you're evacuating from the high side line and it is full of oil, then yea, some of that oil is going to be sucked out and into the vacuum pump before any of the air in the system can come out. You say you put the oil in the compressor and evaporator, so the scenario I described shouldn't be an issue.
