Converting R12 manifold Guages to R134a

MrDiedel on Sun September 08, 2013 6:18 PM User is offline

I did A/C work about 13 years ago. I found my gauges and I don't remember doing much R12 but I do remember doing R134a, however my gauges are set up for R12. I thought I had used my manifold gauges on R134a by using some adapters. I can't find them, and I can't remember clearly. Can you tell me if I can purchase adapters for my Manifold Gauge set that is currently set up for R12?

Also, which brands do you consider quality and which brands would you suggest to avoid?

Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Regards,
Mr. Diedel

I have such adapter hoses on my R-12 gauge set, about 12 years ago. I can't remember where I got them though.

Call ACkits. They have them.

There are two types, one has a manual valve core depressor and the other doesn't. I have the CPS brand with the depressors. Used them along with a vacuum gauge and a core tools to isolate. I've only used them on one system but vacuum rose from under 500 microns only less than 100 microns in 30 minutes so they are of high quality.

Those actually look like a better idea than the short hose adapters I have. My adapter hoses also have an in-line shut-off valve.

Cussboy, look for the Mastercool professional Models. They are what I would use if I want to convert a guage set. They will cost twice as much.
