Will someone check labor time?

Jag987 on Tue July 01, 2014 10:25 PM User is offline

Year: 2008
Make: Chevy
Model: Aveo
Engine Size: 1.6
Refrigerant Type: r134a
Ambient Temp: 90
Pressure Low: 140
Pressure High: 150

Two questions, First can someone check the labor time to replace the expansion valve on this car? Just looking at it mounted on the firewall, it looks like it should only take about 30 minutes or less to change. However, in my 2010 Chilton labor guide, it is showing labor time of 4.9 hours!!

Second question, the ac was working fine, then the car sat for about 10 days. Now it is only blowing hot air. The clutch engages and and no refrigerant has been added, but the static pressure is about 150 and the low only drops to about 140 when the system is turned on. It is a V5 compressor and I think the control valve is not working properly. The customer has agreed to changing out the compressor and one has been ordered. Besides the control valve, any other ideas on what it might be? It seems strange to just die after sitting a few days, but I has seen crazier things.

Thanks everyone!

I bought a can of 134a at w**-mart that had a stop leak, oil, and dye in it. It also had a hose and a gauge, so now I'm an AC pro!

Maybe if you ask nicely. Are you getting email notifications? I thought we had it fixed but have only gotten two test notifications.

I did get an order confirmation on Friday but did not get a shipping notice. I went into my account today and saw that it was being drop shipped. Sorry, but this is only my second order but I did get an email with shipping info on the first order. I do not "subscribe" to any of the treads here, I spend enough time here I do not need to get an email about a reply after I read it.

I know the customer is getting the compressor from rockauto, four seasons $208.99, your price is $182.26 for the AM. There is no listing online for the expansion valve or dryer, but I know a phone call can fix that and I bet the price would have been less as well. Some people are just set in there way and can not get ideas out of there heads.

If a tracking number or delivery date could be sent, that would be great! Otherwise it will be like Christmas coming early when the big brown truck show up.
Thank you!
