Parallel Flow Condesner is now on the list

Year: 1971
Make: Pontiac
Model: Grand Safari(Grandville
Engine Size: 455
Refrigerant Type: 134a

From what I have learned from this site I am going to be installing a custom parallel flow condenser to replace my stock fin style when I upgrade from R12 to 134a in my '71 full size Pontiac. When I do this I seem to have read several differing opinions on what size condenser to get. I have read that I need to get the absolute biggest I can fit, but I have also read that getting one too large may block too much radiator and cause issues with water temps. If I were to take my old condenser out and replace it with a cross flow of the same dimension would this be a suitable replacement?

Thanks,

A parallel flow condenser will remove about 1/3 more heat than a tube & fin of the same size.
