O-Ring Oil Type?

smithly on Sat April 25, 2015 9:50 PM User is offline

Year: 2006
Make: Honda
Model: Accord LX-SE 4 Dr
Engine Size: 2.4L
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 75F
Pressure Low: 25psi
Pressure High: 150psi
Country of Origin: United States

My AC system takes PAG46 (Denso - 8) as I understand it. I may have to replace the expansion valve. When I do, I will of course replace the drier. While I have it open and have the O-ring set, I was considering replacing all my O-rings on my 10 yr old system. I don't have any PAG oil on hand and don't really need any just for the expansion valve. I do have some Ester Oil on hand. Would that be ok to put on O-rings only? Is Ester Oil a bad mix for PAG in small amounts?

Ester oil will be fine on o-rings. I read your other post. Your TXV seems fine. You're most likely low on refrigerant. Add 4 to 6 oz and retry.

When you open a system, the o-rings on the line between the compressor and condenser could be pre-emptively replaced, because that part runs hot and hardens the rubber making them prone to leak. The rest of the system you should take an "it isn't broken" approach to.
