05 Chevy drivers side hot, passenger cold

Jag987 on Thu July 09, 2015 3:58 PM User is offline

Year: 2005
Make: Chevrolet
Engine Size: 5.3l
Refrigerant Type: R134a

This is my "new" truck, I have only had it about 6 weeks. Several times the Ac has started blowing heated hot air out of the drivers side vents. The passenger side still blow cold hen this happens. Also, it will blow cold out of the defrost vents. The truck does have dual temp controls, just sliding temp controls not digital and just one blower/fan speed control. Two or three times when this has happened has been right after I hit a bump in the road. The other time I had a thermometer in the vent and it just hit 39 when it quit. I had been keeping the controls up just a little so it never got that cold again, but it quit on me again today after I hit a bump. If I pull the Ac fuse under the hood or turn the truck off for a while, it all works properly again.

Any ideas?

I think it might have something to do with one of the actuators, but do not have a fancy enough scan tool to even check. Thanks everyone!

I bought a can of 134a at w**-mart that had a stop leak, oil, and dye in it. It also had a hose and a gauge, so now I'm an AC pro!

It has been found low charge will make the driver's side warmer but if yours was cold until you hit a bump, I would rule that out and look at the blend doors/flaps.

Yeah, it is real cold till it quits. I had the gauges on it once and the pressures were fine. I'm sure it has something to do with the doors.

Might also check for poor quality system related electrical connections
