Compressor Shaft

ACClueless on Thu January 14, 2016 6:18 PM User is offline

Year: 2012
Make: Toyota
Model: Rav 4
Engine Size: 6cyl
Refrigerant Type: 134

Is it a common problem for the shaft to break on the compressor? If so, what causes this?

I've seen liquid slugging do it, from refrigerant migration- but not very common....

-------------------------
The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Thank you GM Tech!
