Aftermarket condensers--thoughts?

bmackkc on Sat May 26, 2012 5:06 PM User is offline

Year: 2006
Make: Kia
Model: Optima
Engine Size: 2.4
Refrigerant Type: 134a

I purchased a used condenser for my '06 Kia Optima. The replacement came from an '04; the part interchange directory showed that the '04 condenser is forward compatible with the '06. Nope.

The '06 has an integrated dryer, while the '04 has an attached accumulator/dryer. There don't seem to be any '06 condensers in the Kansas City area, so I'm looking at aftermarket replacement. Does anybody have any experience with JCWhitney? I remember getting their catalogs when I was a teenager, but never really bought anything from them. They have three different options:

ACI, for $67.65 1 year warranty
CSF "OE Replacement," for $120.07
Performance Radiator "OE Replacement" for $156.80 3 year warranty

I'd like to be frugal, but not stupid. The ACI is probably out because it is so much cheaper than anything else...

Thoughts?

Don't be cash stupid...replace the condenser with the correct. Did not see a listing with site sponsor...so the market is open. CSF typically has good products. Would not worry about a 3 year warranty. Your unit is a sub cooling unit and the used unit that you purchased is a standard parallel flow....there is a vast difference in the units....stay with the correct part. The life of your compressor depends on it.
Good luck

Ice, just because it's not listed. Does not mean we don;t have access to these condensers. Remember we are a smaller family owned company. Only so much time to update the web, ship orders, repair vehicles and run the company as a whole.

Sorry for the oversite....would never intentionally try to steer someone to another source.

Perhaps, this person will take the time to read both post and contact you. I shall keep the 'custom service' in my mental file for future use.

Take care, talk to you later.
