Road Trip

Model: New Beetle

I have a couple of questions for all you southwesterners. My daughter is moving to Los Angeles next month (July) and her mother and I are going along to help with the drive and to see a part of the county that is new to us. We are traveling from the Orlando Florida area to Memphis for a brief visit, then we will take I-40 west to L.A.

I am requesting general purpose tips/thoughts from the group. In particular I am concerned about the heat. Florida is hot in July but the desert is even hotter. Other thoughts about road conditions, etc are welcome and appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Jim

When crossing the desert take lots of water just in case you break down. Take enough to refill your vehicle plus 2 or 3 gallons more for personal use, gallon or more per person. If you break down don't leave your vehicle or get off the main HWY! We hear a story a year where they find the car but no one is around. Body usually shows up miles from the HWY a few days later.
