Veterans Day Message

We walk along our city streets,
and gather often at Town Square;
As we assemble to remember,
we think of those who are not there.

We're so thankful for our nation,
for our people, who are free;
But, without our soldiers fighting bravely,
What would read our History?

We may not always agree,
upon the matters, which are at hand;
But, with pride, we join together,
and always take the stand,

That America is the greatest,
because we have the brave, courageous, and the bold,
and it's been that way since her beginning,
from the days of old.

Our soldiers go forth in courage,
and they do not smirk their duties.
They fight for all that they believe,
and we love them truly.

The honor of our great nation,
is displayed for all to see;
Because we believe in liberty and justice,
and for all people to be free.

Today, let us thank our soldiers,
and lift each one up, in prayer.
Because, there's a soldier in dire need,
caught up in the battle, somewhere.

Let us thank our Heavenly Father,
for all those who've gone before;
and may we always have the courage,
to open wide, Freedom's "Welcome" door.

My 18yr.old son sent this to me from the USAF Academy.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
That salutesthe flag,

It is the veteran,
who serves under the Flag,

It is the veteran,
whose coffin is draped with the flag.

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

On the ABC evening news, it was reported tonight that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.

They respectfully declined the offer, "No way, Sir!"

Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson.

The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.
