Saw what my friend?

It's a little wet around the Phoenix area with some dense fog this morning. The different river's (usually dry) are running pretty good. I love the rain as we just don't see it that much around here. Last I herd was that the river up in Sedona was causing some trouble but most of the residents up there are used to that when it rains hard like this.

Tim - Sure hope things are ok in AZ. Have some friends in Tempe, and Tucson. I hope some folks here will JUMP to help with auto or A/C problems if we see them from the devistated area from the Tsunami waves in S. Asia. Argg! What can we do to help? I know we deal with automotives here but many know A/C in all forms and may be able to help and hope do for that area right now if they can get a message out. They may have lost some experts in that mess.

Hope things are ok is AZ. Best, Tom Greenleaf - New England USA

It rained here all day yesterday and as soon as it hit the ground, turned to ice, just said the cars are going to stay in the garage. We are getting strong south winds today and the temps are in the 40's and the ice finally melted off. Still prefer this to the subzero temps we had last week. Lots of fender benders reported on the news last night, ain't worth it, our vehicles are not made for some kinds of weather.

I hear your 40's Nick. But that was last week for us. Now, here is Dallas, at 8:20AM it is 67F and rising. I would much rather have you enjoy the ice and snow. I prefer not to drive in it.

Ha, wonder what is worse, my heating bill in the winter or your air conditioner bill in the summer?

MikeH on Fri December 31, 2004 9:47 AM User is offline

My A/C bills this past summer during the high hits averages $650-$700 a month. I have a 2 story, 3500SF house with a 5 ton unit for the upstairs area and a 3 ton unit for the downstairs area. Right now, I have neither heat or A/C turned on. Last week I did not run the downstairs heat at all. With 17 computers downstairs and the heat they were generating we didn't really need it.

I guess I shouldn't complain about my $200 heating bill in January then, AC in the summer is about $30.00 per month. I am heating and cooling 4,000 square feet.

Just get tired of reading all the BS that comes in with the gas bill, demand too low or too high, distribution costs, environmental rules preventing drilling new wells, the price of car gas at the pumps, you name it, over the last six years, our bills have doubled.

Might not be a bad idea to try and pipe that heat from the downstairs into you main floors duct system and using some kind of damper system to close when not needed, sure is a lot of heat going to waste.

Little 1500 sq foot house which is more than enough for me. Before this past summer I sprayed in a bunch of insulation with the machine you get from Home Depot. Bought way too many bags of insulation so my attic is 14" deep at a minimum. Anyway it dropped my summer electric bill down almost $ 100.00 a month. Highest summer electric bill was $ 186.00 this past summer.
