Need compressor mounting brackets for 6 cyl. Econoline

Cranky on Tue May 03, 2005 8:45 PM User is offline

Country of Origin: United States

I have a 1975 Ford Econoline Van that I am installing AC in. I got all the plenems air handling boxes and ductwork from a 1990 Econoline.
I still need some of the components, I plan on getting them from ACkits. My problem right now is I can't locate the mounting brackets for
the compressor. I need brackets for 1983 to 1986 300 six. Can someone steer me to where I can get them?

Best bet for stock brackets would be a junk yard..Or, update to a "better" compressor. Send an e-mail to The guys at Ackits.com, att: Tim and see what brackets they may have for that engine.. But you will find a lot of older econolines in junkyards now. I'll check in the morning in our yard. I know we have one in the back, but not sure what engine, or if it had AC.....I'll let you know if we have one...Hope this helps..

Thanks Chic, I tried many bone yards but around here they seem to get them to the crusher before I can get to them.

Thanks for any help.

Cranky...Never made into work today..Had some personal business to take care of..I will check the van we have tomorrow though..Sorry for the delay..I would accept the details for the seltic from Tim. Brand new Seltecs cost much less than you think, and they are excellent compressors. Always good to have a back up plan..

Ok, the van we have here is a 92 4.9 (Straight six) with an FS6 compressor. Mounted on left side under power steering. Serpentine belt. You would have to check to see if you could use the brackets. if so, send an e-mail to Dewlandjr@Aol.com and I'll have the owner check it out as far as price etc.. Put in the e-mail heading attention chick..Hope this helps.

Chick,
Thanks for your trouble, but to use that I would have to change all my accessories to serpentine. I looked into that before and really don't want to change everything. I'll keep looking for a while. I could fabricate them but that is a project in itself, if I have to I will.

Don't know how you guys do it but keep up the good work,
Bob

No problem..Didn't have any older vans to compare if the brackets were the same, I know the pully systems are..Hey, it was worth a try, right...

Van or pick-up will all be the same. Those brackets should be a dine a dozen at the wreaking yard. Of course I would use the Seltec setup as I think it a better compressor but you have to use what you have sometimes.
