Correct, I'll never be old enough to be a liberal. Point I was making is all our Arizona media is extremely bias and not worth reading.

Just put it this way and I don't care what political view someone takes. Today's print & broadcast news fail to print or broadcast news. Example, news means it's 105 out today. Not our scorching heat is 105 today do to the greenhouse gas effect. Now I understand putting a new coat of paint on the house is going to make it sell better. But news is news and opinions is for the editorial page.

Still don't know why they call political parties liberals or conservatives. In that sense, a liberal tries new ideas where a conservative sticks with traditional methods. Would slavery in this country be considered as a conservative view, give me that old time religion or politics?

Democratic party in my state wants to push health care insurance for everyone through payroll deductions. Payroll deductions are not new to pay for health insurance and presently taking a bundle out of our paychecks. If they pass this legislation, will those paying for health insurance even have a much greater deduction so that those not trying to improve themselves have free health insurance? Hell, why should we work? But that is not liberalism, that is socialism. There was a movement for socialism in this country during the depression years that opposes capitalism, and why not, just a handful of people were getting super rich while the majority were starving. But those that participated in those meetings were blackballed in the 50's because the government didn't know the difference between socialism and communism. But the Soviets weren't communist, they were dictators and our government officials didn't make that distinction either and became dictators themselves.

Conservatism can also be defined as one that spends money wisely and carefully, certainly can't attribute this virtue to what we had the last six years..

Feel it's because we lack good definitions in these basic terms, no one really knows what they are talking about, we are sure seeing the negative effects of capitalism again today with extreme energy prices and that money is not going into improving refineries or future energy research. Just going into a handful of people's pockets. Not bad if that is your pocket the money is going into. Liberalism is also confused with gossip, I personally don't give a damn about the lives of celebrities, but all that crap is the life of many people I know. What they need to do, is to get a life of their own.

Well the ones making the most on energy is the US government. They don't do anything for it other than to hold out their hand. I have seen you use the phrase a few times and I don't find anything the Liberals are doing to be progressive and forward thinking. In this context Liberal in my opinion means to use freely someone's money. To know how to use such money better than you could yourself so let us do it for you. Conservative, means in my opinion. One which controls their own money. With that said I sure see a lot of spending by the Conservatives and personally would consider the all of the current US government Liberals.

In WI, the pubcans seemed to be a lot more concerned with my money than the damncats. So what if college tuition is increased by 400 bucks a year, most of the kids can quit drinking beer and will have a lot more than that 400 bucks. They can then drink all the beer they want after they graduate, and even turn 21 first.

In the last thirty years, the cost of health insurance has increased by a factor of twenty, property taxes by a factor of 15, gas taxes by a factor of twelve, sales tax rates have more than doubled and many more items are taxed, minimum wage has nearly doubled, so taxes and health care are way out of proportion Our electric rates have doubled over the last two years.

Can recall very good road service thirty years ago, much better than today, new schools being built and for every teacher position, least a thousand applicants, and being able to spend more than five minutes with a doctor. Something is really off, way far off, want to get into deep trouble, start asking, why?

LOL, not really as the mess our country has gotten into is not something I will ever be able to fix. I used to be a strong republican. But I don't see much coming from them either these days. The days of our government being there for the people is long gone in my opinion. When I say for the people I'm not taking about hand outs!

30 years ago you did not have to take care of 20 million illegals either. What do you think could be done with all the money which goes to keep the illegals happy in this country.

It wasn't very long ago we lost major industries up here to Mexico increasing the unemployment, drastically, guess those companies must have moved to China. Still disheartening to see all those empty ship yards on Lake Michigan, Manitowoc made all the US submarines during WW II, been downhill every since. Over a thousand homes for sale in many of the small Lake Michigan cities as other companies pulled out as well. Still that ongoing war between private home owners and corporations as to whom should pay property taxes, if the state increases corporation taxes, goodbye corporations, and jobs. What idiots, the major problem is that the state is not cutting back taxes.

Talked to a young family the other day, wife with two kids is quitting her job, making 1,300 bucks a month and paying a thousand of that for daycare. With other work costs, finally realized she wasn't getting ahead. Gone are the days when the old man could bring home a decent income so mom could stay at home. Our state is cracking down on illegals especially for those that have been here a long time. What they do is to deport the husband at the states expense, they won't deport the mother because someone has to stay here to take care of the kids, and the kids born here are considered as US citizens by birth. So in contrast to that young lady paying a thousand bucks a month, they opened state operated day care centers giving free daycare to the illegal mother so she can go out and find a minimum pay wage job someplace with barely enough money to pay the rent. But the kids are eligible for Medicaid and other welfare benefits, so that is costing the taxpayer as well. So much for that North American free trade agreement, but much of our automotive industry that isn't going to China is going to Canada.

For legal immigration, both my wife and I had to sign a contract with the US Government that we would not apply for any welfare aid, either private or public. Do do so, they can deport my wife and put me in jail with stiff fines, plus pay back any money or goods we took. Plus we have to show an income that far exceeds what one can earn with minimum wage. That is the legal way and that is the way we agreed to go. But quite a contrast for those that are here illegally, and that doesn't quite seem fair. We are financially very secure, but wonder what would happen if either of us gets severely injured or ill?
