Plumbing question?

Plumbing question?

I need to replace the ¾” pipe that connects the bathtub spout (spigot) to the bath faucet.
The piece of pipe (nipple) is only 3” long with about 1” of threads sticking out of the wall.

How do you install the new piece of brass pipe without damaging the new threads?

You use Mr Internal Pipe Wrench of course.

Screw a connector and another nipple together to use as an extension. Use hardening pipe dope on the connection to remain inside the wall and a releasing lubricant on the joint you wish to leave sticking out from the wall.

Your alternative is to cut an access hole in the wall on the opposite side of the tub.

I just call a plumber with problems like that.

Wait, that's me!

I had problems with my bathroom spigot, plumber didn't do a very good job of mounting the feed pipe to the wall and water was leaking behind it, just unscrewed by hand and worked through that tiny hole in the wall to re-enforce the feed, was an elbow with screw tabs with a couple of bent over nails, used real screws instead. I just coated the threads with silicone glue and hand tightened putting chalk behind the spigot with a nice looking bead on it. Really no water pressure in there, and it doesn't leak, once the chalking dried, it is solid.

Thanks for the reply’s Russell and Nick.

I was side tracked and have not been able to work on the pipes yet.
