Islamic terrorists target Army base -- in Arizona

November 26, 2007

By Sara A. Carter - Fort Huachuca, the nation's largest intelligence-training center, changed security measures in May after being warned that Islamist terrorists, with the aid of Mexican drug cartels, were planning an attack on the facility.

Fort officials changed security measures after sources warned that possibly 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists were to be smuggled into the U.S. through underground tunnels with high-powered weapons to attack the Arizona Army base, according to multiple confidential law enforcement documents obtained by The Washington Times.

"A portion of the operatives were in the United States, with the remainder not yet in the United States," according to one of the documents, an FBI advisory that was distributed to the Defense Intelligence Agency, the CIA, Customs and Border Protection and the Justice Department, among several other law enforcement agencies throughout the nation. "The Afghanis and Iraqis shaved their beards so as not to appear to be Middle Easterners."

According to the FBI advisory, each Middle Easterner paid Mexican drug lords $20,000 "or the equivalent in weapons" for the cartel's assistance in smuggling them and their weapons through tunnels along the border into the U.S. The weapons would be sent through tunnels that supposedly ended in Arizona and New Mexico, but the Islamist terrorists would be smuggled through Laredo, Texas, and reclaim the weapons later.

A number of the Afghans and Iraqis are already in a safe house in Texas, the FBI advisory said.

Fort Huachuca, which lies about 20 miles from the Mexican border, has members of all four service branches training in intelligence and secret operations. About 12,000 persons work at the fort and many have their families on base.

Lt. Col. Matthew Garner, spokesman for Fort Huachuca, said details about the current phase of the investigation or security changes on the post "will not be disclosed."

"We are always taking precautions to ensure that soldiers, family members and civilians that work and live on Fort Huachuca are safe," Col. Garner said. "With this specific threat, we did change some aspects of our security that we did have in place."

According to the FBI report, some of the weapons associated with the plot have been smuggled through a tunnel from Mexico to the U.S.

The FBI report is based on Drug Enforcement Administration sources, including Mexican nationals with access to "sub-sources" in the drug cartels. The report's assessment is that the DEA's Mexican contacts have proven reliable in the past but the "sub-source" is of uncertain reliability.

According to the source who spoke with DEA intelligence agents, the weapons included two Milan anti-tank missiles, Soviet-made surface-to-air missiles, grenade launchers, long guns and handguns.

"FBI Comment: The surface-to-air missiles may in fact be RPGs," the advisory stated, adding that the weapons stash in Mexico could include two or three more Milan missiles.

The Milan, a French-German portable anti-tank weapon, was developed in the 1970s and widely sold to militaries around the world, including Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Insurgents in Iraq reportedly have used a Milan missile in an attack on a British tank. Iraqi guerrillas also have shot down U.S. helicopters using RPGs, or rocket-propelled grenades.

FBI spokesman Paul Bresson would not elaborate on the current investigation regarding the threat, but said that many times the initial reports are based on "raw, uncorroborated information that has not been completely vetted." He added that this report shows the extent to which all law enforcement and intelligence agencies cooperate in terror investigations.

"If nothing else, it provides a good look at the inner working of the law-enforcement and intelligence community and how they work together on a daily basis to share and deal with threat information," Mr. Bresson said. "It also demonstrates the cross-pollination that frequently exists between criminal and terrorist groups."

The connections between criminal enterprises, such as powerful drug cartels, and terrorist organizations have become a serious concern for intelligence agencies monitoring the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Based upon the information provided by the DEA handling agent, the DEA has classified the source as credible," stated a Department of Homeland Security document, regarding the possibility of an attack on Fort Huachuca. "The identity of the sub-source has been established; however, none of the information provided by the sub-source in the past has been corroborated."

The FBI advisory stated the "sub-source" for the information "is a member of the Zetas," the military arm of one of Mexico's most dangerous drug-trafficking organizations, the Gulf Cartel. The Gulf Cartel controls the movement of narcotics from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, into the U.S. along the Laredo corridor.

However, the sub-source "for this information is of unknown reliability," the FBI advisory stated.

According to the DEA, the sub-source identified Mexico's Sinaloa cartel as the drug lords who would assist the terrorists in their plot.

This led the DEA to caution the FBI that its information may be a Gulf Cartel plant to bring the U.S. military in against its main rival. The Sinaloa and Gulf cartels have fought bloody battles along the border for control of shipping routes into the U.S.

"It doesn't mean that there isn't truth to some of what this source delivered to U.S. agents," said one law-enforcement intelligence agent, on the condition of anonymity. "The cartels have no loyalty to any nation or person. It isn't surprising that for the right price they would assist terrorists, knowingly or unknowingly."

It's very concerning to me! But I would rather see a real effort made to stop illegal entry into the US.

Ha! I know what you mean, they are a bit too close to home.. Perhaps you guys should get some tips and advise from some former East German fence builders, they made quite a nice one complete with buried mines to deter tunnels and machine gun posts.. Let me know when they start, I'll buy shares in the company making the razor wire

No issue with that! Only difference with our fence is it will be to keep people out not in! You can make light of this all you want. Story may not be completely factual. But if they are smuggling in surface to air missiles what else our the burger flippers and house keepers smuggling into this country. I use that term only as a reference. The libs here say that is what the illegals are so I'm just using their terminology. We have a right to protect, no we have a responsibility to protect our borders!

Ha! that site would be funny if I didn't realise that far too many red necks and hillbillys took it as gospel truth... I read it and cried laughing thinking of all the rabid energy that went in to producing it..

It is funny that far to many people deny that pumping crap in to the air is bad for us despite what logic tells us yet read a spoof website and accept it as sound basis for genocide.. Far too many people believe what suits their purpose and refuse to use their common sense..

So how many of you guys have discussed this with a Muslim?

What Moses and Mohammed share in common, both were turned down by the woman of their dreams. Moses gets his revenge by coming up with a story that Eve gets Adam kicked out of the Garden of Eden making all women bad to the point where they are not even allowed in the temple. 1,600 years later Mohammed brings about the same line of crap, both get millions of followers, so who are the true idiots? Jesus on the other hand has a fondness for the two Mary's in his life and gives the woman a certain degree of respect. Took about 300 years, but the Roman's finally caught on this idea and accepted the Christian way of living, basically treating a woman with a bit more of respect. But not really all that much as it took another 1,700 years in western civilization to treat women even a bit more equally.

The simple fact of the matter is, the human race needs both men and women to survive and is anyone in a position to judge which sex is better than the other? Have a daughter that is doing extremely well in a man's world, add to that, three daughter-in-laws and far more intelligent than most men I have met. Much prefer a woman as my constant companion, my wife is extremely intelligent, really wasn't interested in bringing a piece of meat to my home. But that is the very foundation of the Muslim religion, not really based on any supernatural revelations, just a bunch of crap some weirdo came up with with a bunch of AH's following him. Only bad thing about the Muslim religion, they are not killing each other enough, would be welcomed to all of mankind if they killed themselves completely off.

Ha, even growing up in my religion, thought it was weird that the women had to wear a head covering while the men had to take their hats off. So instead of seeing beautiful hair, had to look at a bunch of ugly bald heads, should be the other way around.

Have I talked to Muslims? Yeah, but avoided the subject of whose god was better, did suggest they look into the foundation of their religion and all the religions of the world. It's a bit difficult to comprehend why people will both kill and die for when there doesn't even exist, a firm foundation for their beliefs. So why are our kids dying for them? That is yet a much better question to ask.

Come on Karl you can do better than cheap insults. Your real issue with the data is it shows to a degree. The actions of the people you defend. Deep down you know this but can't do anything to defend these actions so you insult. Kind of odd that anyone that does not follow your thinking is a red neck hillbilly. Same thinking the muslin killers use when they kill the infidels! I have talked with muslins in America. The ones I talked to can't stand the terrorists. Which is one reason they are here. But they also will not talked a stand against the terrorists. So all they have done is bowed to the terrorist and came to America for protection.

I'm sorry Tim but these are the only types that I can believe would produce this kind of silliness I can't believe that a well balanced and informed American citizen could regard such a website as anything other than a joke. Yep, terrorists kill people but so do crooks, gangsters, drunk drivers, idiots who play with guns, drug dealers to name but a few. Are all of these people Muslim?

Why do you call those deaths reported incorrect facts Karl. Do you have any proof they are not the truth? Maybe you just don't want to believe your buddies truly are the savages they are. As for your murder list. Yep it happens and we punish anyone caught doing those acts in America. Just like we are after the muslins which want to chop off our heads or fly planes into our buildings for pleasure.

Similarly Tim, I could invite you to prove that they are real.. Irrespective of the facts presented they are only the truth to someone willing to believe... Some people KNOW that god exists...Others KNOW that he is not real. there are some who believe that the holocaust was an elaborate hoax and would not believe even in the light of irrefutable proof... Ha Ha there are even some deluded fools who believe that Saddam Hussein was responsible for the twin towers... Which brings us to the question of what you guys are doing invading a sovereign country and hanging its leader... OK his head didn't come off but it is still killing a guy..thus generating a power vacuum which every little tin pot mullah wants to fill and will do this by intimidation of the population...A bit like your Mafia intimidates those who may testify against it....So are the Mafia muslims?

Quite frankly I find this storm of irrational hate against all muslims more that a little unnerving, I wonder if they had the internet in Germany in the thirties would we have seen a similar kind of website against the Jews? I also find this national paranoia that the US has against everyone who disagrees with US policy troublesome

People die in Iraq....People die in the US...People die everywhere..Thats life...Get used to it... You guys stuck your paddle in the septic tank, why do you whine about the stink?

What you fail to understand is we don't want every muslim hung like Saddam, which we did not do in the first place. But you can't say that every Muslim does want every infidel killed. That is part of their religion Karl. See you fail to answer my question because you have no answer when someone questions your beliefs! You called others rednecks or hillbilly's for reading such a site. So you have determined the facts untrue! All I have asked for was for the proof. Which again you failed to provide because you can't.

You think the Jewish people being murdered by Germany is the same as Muslims killing others? Can you show me the stats where the Jewish people blew them selves up daily killing Germans? Time to put the holiday cheer away for the night or morning Karl.

Tim:

Here is another little bit of the peaceful muslim lifestyle:

A Top muslim cleric calls for murder of families

Death. For a "skimpy headscarf". Not just the woman, but her husband, and their fathers... Sounds reasonable enough.

Probably because Hojatolislam Gholam Reza Hassani owns this store and if girls quit wearing hijabs, he will either not as make as much money or will go out of business.

Ha, wonder what these nuts would do if a 100 million Muslim women would wear just a hijab and nothing else?
