Obama has been in office for at least one full working day. With his magic abilities I would assume we no longer have a deficit and terror is a thing of the past.

God took seven days to create, and JC took 3 days to rise; so we should give this new guy a few more days. He and his staff are currently addressing terror by closing Gitmo and "reaching out" (denial?), and evaluating the deficit with "Turbotax"; claiming that any errors will be purely unintentional.

Well the media should shortly return to their "sky is falling" style of reporting about the economy, after taking a week off to giggle and pee their pants ("this is so exciting") over the inauguration. Be sure not to miss the 24 hr a day "screeching" about little Kaylee Anthony, there apparently has never been a child murder as newsworthy.

Was hoping Obama would abolish the IRS, going nuts again during tax time, did you know that the IRS has one thousand and twenty five different forms on their site?

Quite an issue about John G. Roberts Jr. not reciting that 35 word oath properly, but Obama took 30 seconds last night to do it right. The Chinese government didn't like his inaugural address, blocked this live broadcast and deleted the words communism and dissent.

Didn't watch the ceremony, too boring, but just enough to get disgusted that a lot of people are putting all their faith in one man, should have faith in themselves. Plan on testing Obama with letters of my complaints, wonder if he will listen or not. Still feel that office was made way too powerful for any one person. And no one man can please everybody. But did put up strict new rules for lobbyists.

The other day I received my new mortgage payment book for 2009. Was that not supposed to go to Obama? After all I thought he was going to take care of everyone bills if elected! Karl he has been paring for this job for years. One would think all he would have had to do was tap his heals together and all would be better.

Nick I know they did not list the amount of new forms. So if you counted them you are a very sick man my friend.

Just was curious, went to the IRS site, highlighted all the forms they listed, took a few seconds, then clicked on download, said that I have selected 1,025 forms. No, I didn't proceed with the download, just left the site, only have 500 GBs on my computer.

Here is a nice poem you can enjoy:

"Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ####.Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.Put these words
Upon his tomb,
Taxes drove me
to my doom...'When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.Accounts Receivable Tax
Building Permit Tax
CDL license Tax
Cigarette Tax

Sales Tax
Recreational Vehicle Tax

State Income Tax
State Unemployment Tax (SUTA)
Telephone Federal Excise Tax
Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax
Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes
Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax
Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax
Telephone State and Local Tax
Telephone Usage Charge Tax
Utility Taxes
Vehicle License Registration Tax
Vehicle Sales Tax
Watercraft Registration Tax
Well Permit Tax
Workers Compensation Tax STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was
the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?"

1,025 different IRS forms with over 11,000 pages of rules and regulations is sick. In my humble opinion, and this is just the tip of the iceberg as you can see from above.

TRB on Thu January 22, 2009 9:53 AM User is offlineView users profile

I think if people had to pay a lump sum at the end of the year for all the taxes collected be it payroll, state, gas and so on. They would wake up to what the heck is going on with our money. But since we only see a dime here or a dime there taken they think it's not that bad and the politicians are trying to do what's right. I'm not as old as many of you around here but I can't remember a politician that looked our for the people. Now were going to turn into an extension of France. Not sure I would want to live anywhere else but sure don't like what I see being laid out for our country. While I don't think Obama is going to help our country much. He is just one part in the mess we call Washington!

As far as the tax game. I just use Turbotax and it seems to work fine for my inconsequential income.

While he isnt the majic that people would like at least he doe mention the economy and trying to help the people. McCain seemed only interested in sticking with Iraq and much the same thing Bush has been doing.

Couple weeks should be plenty of time with the extra help from the detainees freed up from Gitmo.

2005Equinox: The choices we had were pretty sad in my opinion. Look at the "hope" we have seen already. New Mexico Gov dropped out for corruption issues. IRS dude fails to pay taxes but that's OK! Napolitano was horrible on the broader issue here in AZ! The stuff they promote her doing was only done because we forced the issues as voters of AZ. AZ has a huge budget deficit and Janet and her "it's a federal issue" was a big part of it. I have lost faith in our political system! Its all about power and greed anymore with the citizens being taken for a ride.

MrBill, Thanks for the number of days correction.

Nick, that list was ugly, and I know there is more.

I have lost my faith & confidence in the political system also.

I guess the lawyers slipped a letter in while we were looking the other way.

Instead of "For the People", it must now read "Fork the People"

With all due respect, I'm pretty sure that the Earth took a little longer than a few days to make.... I prefer to side with Charles Darwin.

Whether or not you like Obama or not, your only option is to stand behind him otherwise you are all up the creek, I would say that this is not the time for petty squabbling... You are all gonna have to pay more taxes and reduce your lifestyle..... The golden days are over for the foreseeable future

Best keep an eye on your own issues!! When you have them corrected give us a call.

I could handle paying more taxes if it were going to something of worth and not corrupt politicians and their friends.

With a proposed 275 billion dollar tax cut that works out to about $2,750 less taxes per working person. After I do my taxes, can I just subtract $5,500.00 from my tax bill and send that in?

Nag, Nag, Nag!!!
If all of you would work as much as you complained, you might get something done!

Maybe work at being a politician someday so you could line your pockets like the rest of them in Washington, but yet have a logical explanation for everything!

Well I have a lot of work to do! Talk to you guys in another month or so!

I line my pockets the old fashioned way, by working!

Nick you will not see a tax cut those tax breaks go to the non working! But don't have a heavy heart as you now pay for abortions around the world. Yes I brought it up, but Obama is bringing the change many voted for. Personally with a financial crisis we seem to be in I think money could be used elsewhere. My comments have nothing to do with pro or con on the abortion issues itself.

Well I must do my bit to support those fine craftsmen up in Scotland.... No cheap import will ever replace the taste of a fine malt.

Well, it is a funny thing, we keep hearing about a recession on the news and in the Papers but most of the tradesmen that I talk to are working at near capacity. I cannot remember a busier January and have work booked up to the middle of March, which for me is unheard of. My pal who fits Kitchens and Bathrooms is booked up to September, he has canceled his Summer holiday to fit the work in. The construction industry was hit quickly and hard because folk stopped buying new houses, but they have to live somewhere and many of them have decided to remodel or refurb their existing homes with the money that they have.

I would conclude that the folk who have been hit hard in the second wave are the folk who have been living high on the easy money that was to be found in the financial and other non productive industries... Or as I prefer to call them, Locusts.

Last weekend I visited the local Outlet Village (A mall without a roof to you guys) and despite the huge signs announcing 75% discounts, the stuff that they were selling was still rather overpriced, It seemed that they were selling off the real tat that nobody really wanted and out of date fashions, a fair number of the stores had ceased trading and I can understand why since whenever I went in, the staff were unhelpful and the stock was uninspiring.... Perhaps it is time that the deadwood be cut from the tree.

It has been a very long time since you have suffered a down turn in fortunes, but we have them quite regularly, our last one was in the eighties and so we tend to be less phased by these setbacks. Obviously we do have some who are in panic overdrive but they will learn to be financially fitter..

So who would have been a good choice for president? They all have something that wont please everybody. The people have spoken though in that we are tired of bush and most of us must have felt that McCain would have just been another Bush though the thought of McCain dealing with the foreign countries scared me. Hopefully Obama can start getting some things done. We will have to see.

Give us a chance to save a few pennies will ya? We've only just finished paying you lot for WW2.... Doh so you need a country smaller than one of your great lakes to bail you out of trouble again huh? Well we have done or best to help you by devaluing the pound so thay vacations here are cheaper and British made products are cheaper for you also... What more do you want?

I think that things would have been under way quicker for you but the crisis seemed to hit at the worst possible time.... the change over between Presidents so ther was very little that could be done at a time where much needed to be done..

Love him or hate him... there is no option but to back him... You guys really don't like change do you? Conservatism worked well and has served us for many years but in recent times has become jaded

Oh! Happy Burns day guys!

A good choice? We never really get one do we. It is always a choice between entrenched politicians with agendas and debts to pay back to the people who have funded and supported their personal wealth and political rise.

Yes the people spoke, and it was nearly a tie in the popular vote; just over 50% agreed with you and just under 50% did not. Many of us (your choice of the word "most" is correct, as Obama did win the election) saw McCain as an opportunity to maintain a strong stand on moral, ethical, and military issues, while having the experience and historic record of being able to reach across party lines and get things done. McCain also had political baggage (they all do) and may not have been the best choice, but may have been the best of the crappy options offered. But instead we the people chose the Jr. Senator with little (time) experience, no military experience, no foreign policy experience, and a "share the wealth" agenda; and this is what scares me.

But he is now the 44th President and I completely agree; "Hopefully Obama can start getting some things done. We will have to see."

I understand the desire to rally behind this guy and his political promises, but I would caution that the disappointment that will come with his inability to "rule" with "change", combined with a few terrorist issues, and maybe a natural disaster; and many will soon be saying "Obama did it"; get used to it.
