Seems the tranny actually has two fluid fill points- the tranny dipstick AND the differential on the rear side- it uses 90 weight gear oil and has its own check plug. I learned this after it failed and I went to salvage yard to buy a used one and the salvage yard guy told me they get a bunch of then that way- no one knows to check the differential oil and the gearbox goes dry and the gears crunch- makes awful loud ratcheting noise. So if you know of anyone who owns a 93-97 Geo Prizm or Toyota Corolla- they should check their differential oil ASAP. The differential last to about 150k, (mine had 194k). Salvage yard says even quick lubes and some toyota dealers are unaware- they get cores in all the time and the gear boxes are trashed.

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
Ouch!!!

Great info! Gonna write that one down and store it for future reference. I never know what I'm going to get in here. One could show up here tomorrow.
