COMMENTS:

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world, had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

I think they forgot about the EPA imposed gas guzzler tax and other pollution related, and recycling taxes. Surely there has to be a lot more missing from this list.

AZ taxes the tourists so they can build a dam football complex for those loser cardinals! I spend a good part of a day each week just preparing the weekly taxes which if I were late I get to pay them a lot more!!!

In several of our counties we have both a football and baseball stadium tax, if we don't shovel off the snow of our city owned sidewalks that no one uses within 24 hours, a $35.00 snow removal is charged. An assessment is also a form of tax for new sidewalks, roads, sewer, and water pipes.

I see inventory taxes have been included in that list, but should be pointed out that as an automotive part sits on the shelve for ten years, the price is a lot more in taxes than the cost of the part.

Every business has to make a profit, or at least break even to stay afloat, so whatever you buy has all of that retailers, distributors, and manufacturers taxes built in the price. So even if you don't pay any taxes, you still pay lots of taxes. Plus all the labor as Tim said to compute these taxes have to be done at the expense of that business.

Can't forget that huge tax on R-12 either. Our beer tax is very low, beer at times is cheaper to drink than soda or milk, but we make lots of beer in WI. Cept, you cannot buy it after 9:00 PM, have to drive to a bar to get your beer so you can get nailed with a $1,000 drunker driving fine. The tax collectors are not stupid.

Even with the $9,800.00 some rebates I got on my new Cavalier, I still had to pay sales tax on the list price, this is true of all rebates, you get the rebate back in the mail if you are lucky, but not the tax. Had to pay $490.00 extra in sales tax on that car, almost said no, but what the heck. Nobody in our state seems to know what happened to some 30 billion dollars. I didn't take it, they claim it's some kind of paper work thing, and I got upset when I have a penny error in my checking account balance, but what is 30 billion dollars anyway? Just chicken feed.
