New phone- now how to adapt?

GM Tech on Thu March 11, 2004 8:49 AM User is offline

My wife is spoiled- the old cell phone I had in her van had a nice cradle to mount in- had the external amp with a speaker box that could be mounted anywhere and a mic that could be hung from the visor. Now the phone is obsolete and all the hands-free stuff either hangs from the cigarette lighter or plugs in like a headset. She wants the ability to dial one-handed without the phone falling off the dash and to talk and hear without putting on a headset each conversation. I can't find this accessory anymore and am tempted to adapt the old one to the new phone by figuring out the wiring schematics and making my own mount. But I don't have the wiring diagrams. Does anyone know offhand how to solve this problem. My old phone was an Ericsson (T-780?) and I paid like $150 for the hands free system- it worked great- loud easy to dial- I could mount it anywhere in her van..........................

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Hope it works for you! I also would like to thank you for helping out over the past couple years. No way I could keep up with all the posts in the summer let alone all the different vehicles!

Never cared much for things plugged into the cigar lighter socket with wires dangling. If the vehicle has either an over head console, lights, or lighted visors, that is a handy spot to grab always hot 12 volts, things like cell phones or radar detectors don't draw that much current anyway and mounting up between the visors is a handy spot for playing with the knobs while still keeping one eye on the road. If an interface is needed with the car radio, those wires can be hidden under the inside windshield molding. Having to move your head down while driving just takes that extra second, where above and slightly to the right is just a quick glance.

Nokia do a car kit for your phone that doe what you want. The CARK134 retails at $149 and is available from Nokia. If you search round the Nokia websites under accesories for your phone it should be there.
