Slow load times or dead pages?

TRB on Fri March 26, 2004 3:55 PM User is offlineView users profile

Anyone noticed like I have at times pages seem to load slowly and even become a page not found? Looks like we have grown again and have topped out the co-dedicated server we are on. Traffic is up as always but it is not even summer yet. So unless the last little fix the hosting company did corrects this it looks like a dedicated server is in the future. Dedicated server is not cheap but it looks like it may be a must. I remember when this was a little old $ xx.xx a month account. Now were looking at $ xxx.xx a month. I guess that's progress!

Working like a bullet now, but was slow this morning, I thought it was my computer or my own server. I just closed the window and came back while doing something else, it finally posted my message.

Provider found someone running a messed up cold fusion mail script on the sever we share with just a few other sites. They had over 200 errors from this script just today so they shut it off. I would prefer to stay where we are as each server move requires a dozen or so little bugs to fix. But if I go to a dedicated server when it is done no one can mess us up as we would be own server. But I was pricing it out and it can get costly. Have to pay extra for cold fusion, backup's, databases, MS updates, stats, and I'm sure one or two other things I'm missing. Don't want to sound like i'm crying about the cost as there is no doubt the site takes care of itself.

I'll watch it over the next week or so and see what happens. If anyone else see's a slow or dead page feel free to post a notice so I can pass it on to the provider!

Tim,

If you really want to do a co-loc, let me know. I can help with a lot of the little things that make the cost go up (as in do it for free for you.)

That is a very nice offer!

Going to have to see what happens with the CF mail script. Since they removed it things sure seem better. One point I may make is why do I need to move when its someone else causing the problem! Move his a** and charge him the extra dollars as he is the culprit.
