You will need to make a mounting bracket for the compressor in any case. Just get a unit from Old Air Products, Nostalgic AC Parts, or Vintage Air and start your fabrication from there. Easy grasshopper, R12 was never illegal to use. They stopped production of it to move on to another refrigerant. Certain year vehicles were mandated to use R134a, but R12 was still legal for other year vehicles.

Low side R134a ports are all standard in size. It's the high side that is different with R12 systems.
