Radiator hoses are Ford repros. Lower hose has a spring in it. I am using a 16" electric fan with a full shroud. Fan comes on with AC and/or sensor in radiator
I insulated all the fuel lines in the engine bay and at the tank were one of the lines crosses the exhaust.

Car running hot since I added AC
I have a 55 Thunderbird. I installed a Vintage Air AC kit. The temp gauge goes very high after driving with AC on when temps outside are 85+. I occasionally get vapor lock. The car does not boil over. I've measured temp of top rad tank and it seems to hover at 200 (-/+ 10)

Re: Vintage air problem
Vintage Air returned my call today. They said the high/low numbers are good. They suggested I turn down the temperature control to try to maintain 38/40 degrees out of the vents.

Re: Vintage air problem
I wouldn't add any refrigerant until we know how many ounces (net weight) of refrigerant is recommended for this system and how much was put in.
Originally, did you charge it by weight or by pressures?
You mentioned vapor lock. Is that in the fuel system?
Vapor lock reference is fuel system ...

Re: Vintage air problem
Is the evaporator icing-up and blocking airflow after running the system for a while? Evaporator icing could explain the cold-to-warm-to-cold cycling.
At a 30°F vent temperature (too cold) coupled with the low, low-side pressure, the system appears to be undercharged.
Should I try adding a ...

Vintage air problem
I have a Vintage Air system in my 55 Thunderbird. I installed it last year and it worked very well. This summer, the air goes from cold to warm, intermittently. It does not seem to be related to any RPM or MPH

Installed Vintage AC in 55 Thunderbird Insulation ?
I just installed a Vintage AC system designed for my car. I added a 10" electric fan (comes on when compressor turns on) to support the mechanical fan (also upgraded to 6 blade steel fan)

Insulate low side hose?
I just installed the Vintage Air kit on my 55 Thunderbird. The tech from Vintage Air suggested that I insulate the low side hose (from evaporator to compressor) because there is a lot of heat in the engine compartment. What is the best product to use for this?

Re: Problem tapping cans of R-134A
Had a ground issue. Bracket for compressor and alternator is powder coated
Alternator was fine because one of the mounting bolts goes directly into the engine block
Compressor needed a jumper to ground. I mounted the compressor so long ago I forgot all about it
I couldn’t get the Freon to load ...

Re: Problem tapping cans of R-134A
OP, if you have a newer can tap with a flat pin (not sharply pointed) inside, then screw it directly onto the can without the plastic adapter, which isn't needed in this instance.
I actually have both the pointed and flat ended taps.................... I used the pointed one with the blue ...
