Re: Vents start reducing in air volume after truck is running

I think it's the refrigeration system being low on charge, and that when the airflow stops, you'll find the evaporator clogged with ice as well, although you can't see it. Shutting off the system for a while allows the ice to melt, and then the system cools again--until the next time the evap freeze...

Re: Volvo V70 1997 no high side port and other issues

Before then, I recognized the username (Abscate) of the poser/site admin that posted about the pressure switch (image above) as a respected user on the Vanagon site I mostly am on so reached out and he sent me the following so will give that a shot. --- Yeah that('s) me from Volvo world. Best thing...

Re: R-134A System Schrader Valve Core Size

A couple of caveats are that core removal tools come in different sizes depending on the size of the Schrader valve you want to remove, as well as the type of connection. The video shows a Schrader valve typically used with residential HVAC systems, similar in size and shape to an ordinary tire Schr...

Re: Toyota Sienna compressor engages but little change in pressures

I ended up replacing the pressure control valve on the compressor. I had some trouble getting the compressor to turn on afterward but eventually got it going. Blows ice cold now. Thank you for your help! That's great news...and none too soon now that the hot weather is here. I believe your Sienna h...

Re: Freshly repaired A/C system short cycling.

Best Practices suggest replacement of both the Receiver/Dryer and o-rings. The desiccant in the R/D captures and retains any moisture that's introduced into the system and can't be rejuvenated. You might be able to re-use the o-rings if they aren't deformed, nicked, or torn. Give them a thin coat of...

Re: Volvo V70 1997 no high side port and other issues

I wonder if it would be easier to splice in a port fitting into one of the high side hoses. What are the chances the hoses are a standard barrier or reduced barrier diameter?....And how could I check ideally without cutting one It's probably worth a call to the folks at Cold Hose in Ocala, Florida....

Re: How long does it take to vacuum down a previously open system

I have a lot of questions in mind, but I'll try to address at least some of them here. Given the situation, I would have replaced everything with new parts, including the the evaporator, because you never know what's lurking inside a system that has been open for years—including gunked-up oil mixed ...

Re: Volvo V70 1997 no high side port and other issues

That's what I also found on some of the Volvo forums and the challenge with that is apparently the system does not work without the high side switch connected. My gauges are quarter inch fittings..... How about using a quarter inch tee like used in HVAC where one side is female and two sides are ma...

Re: Volvo V70 1997 no high side port and other issues

No high side port to connect a gauge to. What's best way to add a high side port? Leave it to Volvo to do something bizarre and difficult for MVAC technicians to deal with. On some of these cars (unsure about the '97 V70 Wagon), you'll need to unscrew the high-side pressure sensor and attach a suit...
