Re: How cool should be vehicle ac be running?

I believe him when he says AC performance was fine for a week, then cooling performance was worked; I don't think he'd post if this was a one-time occurrence after being parked in direct sun for 6 hours. I think his evaporator was replaced because the tech diagnosed that as leaking (don't know why e...

Re: How cool should be vehicle ac be running?

It’s 90 degrees out with high humidity in Florida, vent is blowing 62-65 with a stick thermometer down the vent That sucks !!! Should be in the 40s Fahrenheit. Just recently had the evap core and compressor replaced, blew cold in the low 40s for the first week . Ya gots a leak !!! Take it back to t...

Re: What happens when capacity of system is exceeded?

"was only designed to work up to a certain heat load." Every system AC or not has a design limitation. Please consider that after the car has baked in the AZ sun for a few hrs the entire car, ie seats, dash, floor, upholstery, under hood, everything will be at that high temp. It is called...

Re: AC not cold when car not moving - curiosity questions

I plugged it back in and started the engine and surprise surprise, it started blowing nice and cold in about 5 seconds. My question is, is this likely to have caused any damage to the AC system in the 300 or so miles that I have driven it? Or will the pressure switch have sensed the high pressures ...

Re: new self-sealing freon caps

I have about 8 cans of R134a bought a few years ago, when the regular-top cans were still on shelves and the self-sealing ones just showing up. I only work on my own vehicles (3 R134a and one R-12) so have been fortunate that I have not had to do any AC repairs in the last couple years, so not had t...

Re: compressor cycling question

I was thinking to wire a tiny led light to the compressor so i can see exactly when the compressor is running ..... I've done exactly that on both my 1988 Mazda truck and on my 1998 Frontier truck. On the Mazda truck, helped me diagnose slipping AC clutch (turned out that the retaining bolt was sim...

Re: Holding Vacuum When Evacuating, How Long??

Disclaimer: although I have a fair amount of AC experience and knowledge, plus my own AC equipment, I AM NOT an AC professional !!! I generally evacuate a system like 45 minutes (since I'm not a shop, and good time to break for lunch). I generally do a 15 to 30 minutes test to see if the system hol...

Re: 2017 F150 AC problem.

The price of the clutch alone was almost as much as a new compressor so she decided to just get the entire compressor replaced just in case something with the original compressor caused the clutch to go out. Yes, this is typically the path to take. Hopefully dealer recovered the "special"...
