Re: Evaporator replaced but freon smell remains.
Is your detector in the air vent for this? Is this with the ignition and fan on, or the engine running and AC switched on? You didn't make clear....TomIbert wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:44 am I still smell Freon each time I start the truck. My cheap electronic detector will alarm for several seconds when I turn the key to ON.

Mist the condenser with water to see if the high side pressure at 2000 rpm drops considerably. If so, test the fan clutch.

Please help! I noticed my floor boards in my 2002 pathfinder were soggy
That seems like the drain from the evaporator case is not working correctly, if passenger side floor board.

Re: Sourcing R12 240sx compressor
Did you call Tim at ACKits.com to discuss? He might be able to help you.
Even if a new replacement compressor comes filled with PAG oil, you can drain that oil and flush with R-12 type mineral oil by rotating the compressor drive plate a dozen times, then dumping that, then repeating, if you don ...

1. Did this vehicle have working AC and then it stopped working? Or just not working since you got it?
2. Has a shop pulled out the refrigerant and weighed it to determine if the charge amount is correct?

Re: STRANGE ISSUE NEED HELP!
I hooked my gauges up and pressures were about spot on where they should have been for an 87 degree day. 45-50 on the low, pretty steady 200 on the high.
1. Were these pressure readings taken at about 1800 rpm?
2. Did you pull out the refrigerant and weigh it to confirm correct amount ...

Re: Honda Accord AC leak
The shop has the equipment. I'd ask for a quote to replace the O-ring and replace refrigerant separately, and one if the condenser/drier needs to be replaced. Access to the fitting/O-ring looks straightforward from your photo.
